Oakley Square Eye AssociatesGlaucoma ManagementOur doctors specialize in the management of glaucoma. This disease is due to a build up of fluid pressure in the eye resulting in damage to the optic nerve and then loss of vision. You are usually unaware of having this condition until serious vision loss has occurred. And unfortunately, once you have lost your vision it cannot be restored. However, the good news is that glaucoma can be detected early and with treatment, usually eye drops to lower the eye pressure, vision loss can usually be prevented. Our office employs the latest glaucoma technology available. We were one of the first offices in the country to have Sita/Swap. This is a special test used to detect early visual field defects. We also have the Paradigm-Dicon Pulsatile Ocular Blood Flow Analyzer as well as the Heidelberg Retinal Tomograph. These instruments as well as many others in our office allow us to manage glaucoma with the the most state of the art technology in the industry. For more information on glaucoma, please feel free to contact our office or visit the following web site, www.glaucoma.org.
Powerful software compares the images from readings over a period of time to show even the
subtlest changes that may indicate glaucoma.
A new instrument has recently been added to our office for the management of glaucoma and ocular hypertension. It is the Pascal® Dynamic Contour Tonometer.
This instrument is a revolutionary new digital tonometer. It measures the pressure inside the eye more accurately than previous tonometers because it is not affected by the thickness or firmness of the patient's cornea. |
![]() The ocular blood flow analyzer is used in testing for glaucoma. It can measure the intraocular pressure as well as the supply of blood to the optic nerve.
