Meet the Doctors

Dr. Phillip E. Apfel
Dr. Apfel is the director of Oakley Square Eye Associates. He received his doctorate from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1983. He is currently a member of the American Optometric Association, the Ohio Optometric Association and the Cincinnati Optometric Association. Dr. Apfel is also a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. He specializes in contact lenses; including unusual and difficult fits as well as the medical management of glaucoma and general medical Optometry. He is a co-managing doctor for laser, refractive, and cataract surgery at the Cincinnati Eye Institute and the Midwest Eye Center. He has published several articles regarding video integration in eye care. Dr. Apfel has been on the medical consulting staff of the National Football League Cincinnati Bengals since 1992.

Dr. K. Norman Sawyer III
We are very pleased to have Dr.Sawyer join our practice. A graduate of Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Dr Sawyer brings a wealth of experience to our practice. He has co-managed thousands of LASIK patients as well as post- operative cataract patients. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Ohio Optometric Association and the Cincinnati Optometric Association. He is currently a co-managing doctor of LASIK and post-operative cataract patients with the Cincinnati Eye Institute. Dr. Sawyer also specializes in general medical optometry and pediatrics, as well as contact lenses. His experience in the examination of children will be a welcomed addition to our practice.
